Marla Stone provides coaching services at Weaver Center. She enjoys working with teens and adults, many of whom have executive function challenges (including areas of organization, planning, prioritizing, and working memory), AD/HD, and/or learning differences. A special interest is working with students transitioning to college. She helps clients develop personalized strategies so they can accomplish their goals and enjoy greater life success. In accordance with Weaver Center’s strengths based philosophy, Marla’s coaching helps clients discover their learning styles and strengths so they may apply them to areas they find more challenging. Clients develop self-awareness, the ability to advocate for themselves, and a sense of empowerment.
Marla’s desire to become a coach was based upon her personal experiences living with family members diagnosed with AD/HD and a desire to seek answers and obtain strategies, not just for her family’s needs, but for others facing similar challenges. Marla completed her graduate studies at Tufts University and received a Master of Arts degree in Child Development in 2002. Her concentration was in clinical developmental psychology with a focus on stress and coping for those with AD/HD and learning differences. She completed her graduate internship at Children’s Hospital Boston. Marla’s AD/HD coach training was obtained from Susan Sussman of American Coaching Association as well as Jodi Sleeper-Triplett of JST Coaching, the foremost program in the country for coaching teens and college students. Currently, she is completing her life coach training with MentorCoach.
Ms. Stone’s professional memberships include the International Coach Federation (ICF), Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), and the Institute for the Advancement of AD/HD Coaching (IACC). She is an Executive Board Member of Children’s Hospital League and a volunteer for The Creative Soul of Children, Inc., an organization focusing on the strengths of children with special needs. When not coaching, Marla also enjoys spending time with her husband and four sons.
