- With an integrated and inclusive view of the individual, we emphasize the understanding of strengths and competencies. It is insufficient to simply understand what is difficult, and essential that abilities be understood, employed, and maximized.
- Knowledge is empowering. A sophisticated understanding of how learning and attentional differences complicate and compromise functioning is essential to the development of life-long strategies for effective compensation.
- Self-Advocacy skills are continually developed to enable individuals to put self-knowledge into action. We directly teach assertiveness and advocacy skills that work in school, work, and social situations, and emphasize an ability to promote and maintain the skills and strategies that maximize success.
- Accountability helps maintain change. Accountability at all levels, especially with the individual, is crucial to long-term change. This is driven through the development of a Plan of Action. The Plan of Action is developed and modified to ensure that an individual knows specifically what needs to be done to succeed.
