Denise has been a Therapeutic Tutor and Education Specialist at The Weaver Center, for the past six years. She has been a Massachusetts licensed teacher for over 11 years. As a therapeutic tutor, Denise works with clients of all ages who need support with academics and process oriented skills. In this role, Denise individualizes instruction by providing different levels of scaffolding and gearing work towards the learning style of the student. As an education specialist, Denise provides evaluations in the areas of education and study skills, as well as provides support to parents and school advocacy throughout the IEP process.
Denise has worked for over fifteen years with children and adolescents with learning challenges, including but not limited to, Executive Function, ADHD, Mood Disorders, and Aspergers. She has a degree in Community Health and Education from Ithaca College. She continued her education at Framingham University, where she completed the Post Baccalaureate Teacher program and earned a Massachusetts teaching license. Denise earned a Master’s degree in Education from Cambridge College and has most recently, continued her education through Framingham State to become a licensed Special Educator.
Denise has worked in both the Learning Center and as a classroom teacher for the Natick Public School system. While at Natick, she worked as a team member to develop a writing program. Denise has also been a special education teacher at the Walker School in Needham. At the Walker School, Denise researched math programs that would enhance the learning of children with special needs.
Denise lives in the Metrowest area with her husband and their two young daughters, a dog and a cat. When not working, Denise enjoys spending time with family and competing in triathalons.
